Deb's Birthday, Tuppersex, and the Dandelion Seed Head - December 2012

For my friend and former co-worker Deb's 31st birthday, my other co-workers and I decided to throw her a surprise Tuppersex birthday party! And, of course, I offered to make the birthday cake.

This was a bittersweet cake for me, however, because it didn't turn out exactly how I had planned...however, it did taste REALLY good.

Chocolate again....surprise! The problem I ran into was with the white buttercream frosting decoration. I didn't realize that it had separated before I began to decorate, so I ended up with a smear of white lettering and dandelion seed head flowers. It was horrible and I was horrified. I didn't really know what to do, so I just mixed some black icing color with some piping gel and wrote over the lettering so that it was at least readable. It still looked pretty awful, but it was the best solution I could come up with at the time.

This definitely was a learning experience for me!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes...Just Because!

I found this recipe on the internet and it was pretty yummy, so I thought I would include it in the blog! The picture above illustrates how mine turned out, although they didn't look nearly as professional as the pictures you'll see on the blog. I think the frosting was a little too warm when I decorated them and I probably should have refridgerated it a little more.

This was just a fun Sunday afternoon project to take and share with my co-workers to brighten up the return to work on Monday morning!

Here is a link to the recipe I used...happy baking!
